13.09.2011 Hurricane Winds
The Village area seems to have escaped the worst during the hurricane winds of the past 24 hours. A number of branches down at the Airman Statue and Thornaby Green but nothing that will cause a problem.
Village Park trees appear to be OK, partly down to the efforts of CFYA and VPRA continually reviewing the state of the trees in the park.

01,08.2011 Northumbria in Bloom
This years NIB awards are split into 2 sessions. Council Awards are on 13th September in Redcar with the newly revamped Neighbourhood Awards in Durham on 4th October.
VPRA reps should be at the Council Awards as representatives of Thornaby in Bloom and at our own awards in Durham.
The Neighbourhood Awards are now becoming as important as the Council Awards with a lot more entries in each section. For the past 3 years we have been top of the pile being the top points scorers with over 85% of the marks awarded. Hopefully this year will be the same.
