31/12/2009 News Years Eve Report
Thanks to persistence from VPRA reps the 3 grit bins were filled again this morning and were getting a top up again this afternoon if needed. CFYA chap actually hand spread salt along the pavements and road margins on Redcar Road from Thorntree to Thornaby Road and also left a pile of salt on the grass verge ready for emergency use. This followed a 7am e mail from VPRA Chair to CFYA for urgent help.Well above the service level expected this time of year.Thank you once again CFYA
Road, pavement and weather updates are still being updated regularly on Twitter by VPRA reps and also Cllr.Harington from Ingleby Barwick. Click here for Local Twitter

28/12/2009 Icy Roads (again)
Estate roads are not improving much, seem to thaw a touch during day then freeze hard again on a night. Shortage of grit bins or piles of grit around the area are not helping.E mails already sent to SBC to try and rectify this.

26/12/2009 Roads Update
After last nights slight rain and sleet followed by the hard freeze the roads around the Village are like glass. Slight thaw due this afternoon but frost again tonight.
The area around Thorntree road shops is particularly bad with the pavements having frozen rutted slush and ice all over.Nigh on impossible to walk and large icicles hanging of the shop roof`s make it even worse.

13/12/2009 Skate Park
VPRA contacted by Thornaby Police for help with plans for a small BMX/Skateboard area for the Victoria Rec. on Peel Street. Although this is outside our area we hvae been asked for help and advice because of the way we have managed the funding of new facilities in the Village Park. A meeting will be arranged in January to see if residents who were keen for such a feature for the Village would get involved in Victoria.

12/12/2009 Vandalism Update
Thanks to swift action by Thornaby Police and Tristar Homes all of the youngsters involved in the incident on Holmes Close have been warned as to their behaviour. Their parents have also been told by Police what will happen if this sort of ASB happens again.
Tristar Homes have tidied up the damage and thier ASB officer has been in touch with the tenants whose youngsters were involved to warn them off the risks of losing their tenancies.
The VPRA and residents throughout Thornaby will not allow this sort of behaviour to affect our normally quiet area.

11/12/2009 Vandalism
On the evening of Thursday 10th December there was an incident around Holmes Close/Richardson Road involving local youngsters causing nuisance and damage to walls. This was witnessed by residents and members of the VPRA committee who tried to intervene. The group of youths abused and threatened them when challenged. VPRA have since contacted Thornaby Police about this and action has been taken to contact all of the individuals concerned.
4 of the youths live in Tristar “Council houses” and have been reported to the relevant bodies about this ANTI SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR. What the youngster probably do not know is that their actions can put their parents tenancy agreements.
