Postal Scam

Can you circulate this around especially as Xmas is fast approaching - it has been confirmed by Royal Mail. 

The Trading Standards Office are making people aware of the following scam:

A card is posted through your door from a company called PDS (Parcel Delivery Service) suggesting that they were unable to deliver a parcel and that you need to contact them on 0906 6611911  (a Premium rate number).

DO NOT call this number, as this is a mail scam originating from Belize .

If you call the number and you start to hear a recorded message you will Already have been billed £15 for the phone call.

If you do receive a card with these details, then please contact Royal Mail Fraud on 02072396655

 

25/11/2009 Thornaby Town Council Link Bus

Good news today from Thornaby Town Council in conjunction with Stockton Borough Council sees a new bus service for the elderly folk of Thornaby. Initially operating on Mondays and Thursdays between 10.30am and 2.30pm it gives people in areas where there are no buses the chance to get to the Town Centre or Stockton Centre. Services will start on 7th December and if after 3 months is succesful then will increase to 5 weekdays. You need to register with TTC to use the service so contact Debbie as soon as possible  at Thornaby Town Hall on 01642 678652 or email townclerk@thornabytowncouncil.gov.uk

22/11/2009 Bulb Planting

First 3000 (approx) daffodil bulbs planted this morning around by the Airmans Statue.Along the back of the rose beds, under the trees and along the walls at the side of the houses.

Stockton Bus Users Forum is on Saturday 28th November,10.00am at the Arc in Dovecot Street,Stockton. All are welcome to attend. Have your say on the buses and the spending.

13/11/2009 Bulb Planting

Initial dates and venues for this years planting sessions.

Sunday 22nd November Meet at Airman Statue for 11am. Planting along field towards Sir Douglas Park.

Sunday 29th November   Meet at Millbank Lane Park Gates, planting on Millbank and along the rear of Clarendon Road.

Further dates to be added depending on supplies of bulbs. We are also providing bulbs for the Halcyon Centre and St.Patricks Primary School. 

10/11/2009   VPRA Meeting

Residents from Laburnum area concerned about ASB again around Park Road junction. PCSO Legg to take this up with them.

Residents from Laburnum reported a private company selling No Doorsteppers signs door to door at £2 per time. If you want a legitimate sign please let us know and we will arrange NW signs for you.

Discussion about future plans for the Village Park including the gates and internal fencing were discussed with guest Tony Raine from SBC parks and Countryside.Ideas for a BMX area discussed but not thought to be in keeping with the way the park has been going on its modernisations. We will review this again next year..

Next meeting will be December before the centre closes for Christmas. This wil be in the form of a coffee evening with a raffle and a general chat about how the year has gone for the VPRA and what we hope for early 2010.

08/11/2009 Thornaby Remembers

Thornaby held its Remembrance Sunday Parade today with a parade from the Ex Servicemen`s club to St Lukes Church then on to the Cenotaph for the service and wreath laying.

There was a large turnout this year on a cold damp morning although the sun shone during the 2 minutes silence.

 The fifth meeting of Stockton's Public Transport Forum will be on Saturday 28th November 2009 at the Arc, Dovecot Street, Stockton. 10.00 am till noon.

The forum is an opportunity for residents to find out about the latest developments in public transport in Stockton.

The bus operators are represented at the forum, so Stockton's public transport users can get answers to questions about their local services.

Next meeting is Tuesday 10th November at 7 pm in the Robert Atkinson Centre,Thorntree Road. Normal postal minutes are out in post along with agenda`s. Anyone resident in the VPRA catchment area is welcome to attend.

02/11/2009 Remembrance Day 2009

This year the Thornaby Remembrance Day is on Sunday 8th November.

Parade moves off from The Thornaby Ex Servicemens Club at 10am to St Lukes Church for service at St Lukes Church at approx 10.25am. Following the church service the parade forms at the Cenotaph for the service and wreath laying. Parade reforms in Langley Avenue after the Cenotaph service and marches back to the club for food and drink for approx 11.50.

01/11/2009 Strong Winds

Today’s strong winds caused a big problem in the Village Park with the big Willow near the bowls club entrance loosing a couple of its large branches. CFYA contacted to get them cleared before bonfire night.
